And the Madness is Here!

Texas Tip inYesterday marked the first full day of the NCAA tournament, and with 16 different games across the country, the action was intense to say the least. And with the Dayton Flyers upset over Ohio State highlighting the day, there were a number of great stories that began to unfold in this year’s Big Dance, the near upset over Louisville in the late game thriller in Manhattan also hitting the headlines.

While it is true that there were a few games that played out as expected, Wisconsin for example going on a 40-6 run to destroy American or Syracuse coming back to life offensively, winning 77-53 over Western Michigan, majority of the games did not go exactly as scripted for the favorite as far as seeding goes.

Along with the 11 over 6 seed upset of Dayton over Ohio State, Harvard decided to join in on the madness. No. 12 seeded Harvard, holding the 5 seeded Cincinnati Bearcats to just 37 percent shooting from the field and pulling out the upset in a 61-57 win. Amazing game, but the fun had only just begun. There were four more nail-biting overtimes that ensued in the next hours that had UConn surviving, 5 seeded St. Louis moving on, North Dakota State upsetting 5 seeded Oklahoma, and Texas tipping-in to win over Arizona State. And today, the madness continues, as the No. 14 seeded Mercer has already upset the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils.
