UConn Tries To Sweep Basketball Championships

UConn national champsLast night, the UConn Huskies claimed the title as National Champions in the Men’s NCAA Tournament. At the beginning of the tournament, their odds at winning the championship were set at 100-1. The national title matchup of a No. 7 and No. 8 seed was the lowest seeding combination for a title game in NCAA history.

In the game, UConn jumped out to a great start and captured the early lead. However, Kentucky would not go down so easily and fought their way back to within one point. The Wildcats from Kentucky, however, failed to capture the lead at that time, or in any point throughout the game. Despite never holding the lead in the championship game, this game was anything but a blowout. With both teams vigorously fighting for their right to hoist the trophy, it was a back and forth battle the entire game. The Huskies began to pull away somewhat in the final minutes of the game as they made key shots when they needed to, emerging as the victors.

In the game, Shabazz Napier was named the MVP of the Final Four, and all of UConn was celebrating their big win last night.

There are a number of great stories to follow in UConn’s star-lit path to the championship, but this may perhaps be the most amazing. The men aren’t the only UConn Huskies fighting for a National Championship this year! Tonight, the lady UConn Huskies will take on Notre Dame for the Women’s National Championship.
