wine_02A glass of red wine is widely viewed as a very sophisticated drink to accompany a delicious dinner, but did you know that there have been several different health benefits that come with that occasional glass of wine? Here are just a few of the benefits that you may or may not have known about.

According to a study from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain, high-fiber Tempranillo red grapes, commonly used to make red wine, could have a significant effect on cholesterol levels and help you to keep those levels down. The Spanish study showed that some participants saw their “bad cholesterol” decrease nearly 12%. In addition to potentially lowering your cholesterol, antioxidants in wine can help maintain flexibility in blood vessels, thus reducing the risk of unwanted clotting. This can help reduce the risk of heart attacks and other life risks.

The skin of the red grapes used to make red wine is a rich source of a compound called resveratrol. Resveratrol is an incredibly useful compound used to help diabetics maintain blood sugar. This makes red wine in moderation a viable source for controlling blood pressure. Resveratrol also plays a key role in helping keep your memory in a sharp state, helping to fight against the mental illness Alzheimer’s Disease.

From the mind, to the heart, to the blood vessels running through the entire body, there are different health benefits that have been found in a small glass of red wine from time to time.  There are countless different entrée item choices that will be sure to fill you up right. So come join us for dinner tonight, and enjoy a glass of wine to make a delicious meal.
